ALC Designation Application

The ALC designation is awarded by the RLI Board of Directors to candidates who have successfully completed all knowledge and experience requirements. After being awarded the designation, ALC designees must maintain membership in good standing with both RLI and the National Association of REALTORS (either as a REALTOR or Institute Affiliate member) to continue using the ALC designation.

Directions for Submitting an Application

A candidate must submit one copy of his or her professionally prepared application for review by the Accreditation Review Panel.  All documents must be arranged in three 3-ring binders in the following 8 sections, separated by tabs:

1.      TAB 1: Table of Contents

2.      TAB 2: Resume and Information Form

3.      TAB 3: Experience Spreadsheet

a.      Enter by Transaction, i.e. Property 1, Property 2, Property 3, etc.

b.      Enter the Month/Day/Year in Column B.

c.      Enter the Property Address in Column C.

e.      Enter a brief description of the property in Column D.

f.       Enter the exact TOTAL sales price as stated on the Closing Statement in Column F.

g.      Enter who you represented (Buyer, Seller, or Both) in Column G.

h.      Enter the percent of representation in Column H. If you represented either the Buyer or Seller enter 100. If you represented BOTH enter 200.

i.        PLEASE SIGN and DATE the bottom of the spreadsheet

2.      TAB 4: Knowledge Requirement Form and a copy of all REALTOR Land Institute course certificates. If a Fast Track applicant, provide a copy of qualifying designation documentation or transcript from accredited college or university.

3.      TAB 5: Provide a copy of current Real Estate license if a licensee.

4.  TAB 6: Provide a copy of the email received after completion of online comprehensive ALC Exam. Score must be 70% or better. Email Michele Cohen, mcohen@realtors.org, to request login information for the exam.  

5.  TAB 7: Provide two letters of recommendation:

         a.  One from an Accredited Land Consultant.

         b.  One from a local or state board confirming that the applicant is  a member in good standing. 

     If the applicant is an Institute Affiliate member or a Fast Track candidate, in lieu of a letter from a state or local board, he or she may submit a letter from an appropriate accrediting body or commission confirming that the applicant is a member in good standing of the accrediting organization.

6.      TAB 8: Volume Requirement:

a.      Narrative Form describing participation in each transaction. Example

     structures may be a part of a land transaction; however, land must represent a minimum of 51% of the total transaction and structure value may not exceed 49% of the documented transaction.

b.  For each transaction, must provide a copy of the settlement statement verifying payment of a real estate fee plus one supporting document such as the MLS Closing Sheet or other appropriate documentation.

c.      For each transaction, provide a copy of commission statement, a signed statement by the Broker–in-Charge, or other appropriate documentation.

Once the ALC application is fully completed, please submit it in a binder with application check or credit card payment of $350.

Incomplete applications may be returned for additional information.

Applicants may be contacted by a member of the Accreditation Review Panel or a staff member for additional information or clarification.
