    Highlights:

    • Terrorism Insurance Extension Legislation introduced in the House and Senate.
      The bills extend the Terrorism Risk Insurance Program for another two years. A hearing is tentatively scheduled for 4/14. Have any of you received notices that terrorism coverage will be dropped in 2006?

    • REMIC Legislation also introduced in House and Senate.

    • Bankruptcy Legislation Passed House Judiciary Committee.
      The legislation is poised to be passed by the full house next month. The bill is expected to be signed by the President.

    • Tenants In Common.
      NAR is finalizing a response to the SEC on the role of real estate professionals in TIC transactions.

  • FTC Finalizes CAN-SPAM Rule
    The CAN-SPAM Rule takes effect Feb.18, 2005.  Some compliance guidance may be  needed to help REALTORS determine whether an e-mail message has a commercial primary purpose and thus, be subject to the provisions of the CAN-SPAM Act.
