Make the Most of the 2017 National Land Conference
You’ve made the decision to invest in yourself and attend the 2017 National Land Conference (if you haven’t registered yet, registering early will ensure you get the best prices on registration with early bird rates–but don’t delay, these savings won’t last long!). Every year, the best in the business gather at this conference to network, share ideas, and make deals. This is the premier industry event for all land and real estate professionals to take their career to the next level. Get the most value out of your registration with these quick tips and resources.
Before the Conference
The earlier you register for the conference, the more opportunities to network and stay informed you’ll have. The conference may only last three days but the networking and benefits of attending extend far beyond March 31-April 2. Actually, there is already networking happening around the conference right now. Check out these resources and start making the most of the conference ahead of time!
Download the App
The conference app is the single most valuable resource attendees have putting attendees, sessions, speakers, networking, and updates at your fingertips. Its not just who you know, its who knows you! So, put your best foot forward by optimizing your app profile. After downloading the app, make sure to login before arriving at the conference to update your personal profile with contact information, a head shot image and your specialties for other attendees to see.
A link to download this year’s conference app will be available soon. Keep an eye out in your email for the announcement of its arrival.

During the Conference
Mark the Conference Roster
In addition to having contacts at your fingertips in the event app, the hard copy roster distributed at the event is a great takeaway. Take a few minutes at the beginning of the conference when you receive the book to mark down your people of interest. They could be people in your state or region, people you’ve met before, or even ones you’ve heard about and hoped to run into. Then, seek them out at the conference and establish a relationship. Putting a strategy behind your networking can be ten times more effective than just hoping you run into the right person.
Attend the Networking Events
While the education sessions are the big draw for most conferences, at the National Land conference, the networking events are just as beneficial. And this year’s events are on a whole new level. Rev up your engine at the NASCAR Nite Out Welcome Reception at the NASCAR Hall of Fame. Kick off deal making at the Let’s Make Deal$ LIVE property marketing session (Haves & Wants). Plus, you can lasso in some great items at the Cowboy Auction followed by the Shindig in Charlotte Bash featuring live music, eats and drinks!
Partner Up With RLI Partners
We’ve rounded up the best industry service providers! Make sure to stop by and say hello to RLI’s dedicated partners in the Partner Exhibit Hall during the conference. Stop by their booths and discover the many ways they can help you grow your business and maximize profits. From discounted prices on listings and free trials of mapping software to website providers and the biggest name brokerages, this is a huge opportunity for attendees to explore the many services available to them.
Stack the Deck
Stack the deck in your favor by bringing a stack of business cards. Be prepared to leave a mark with a takeaway that other attendees can hang on to for future use. Get your name and company brand out there by trading business cards.
Reserve a Table
Take conference networking to the next level by keeping the conversation going after events and sessions have ended for the day. Make a dinner reservation or go out for a couple drinks with new connections you’ve met at the conference or old ones you are planning to catch up with while there. Building relationships beyond business is what makes your fellow land professionals trust you as a person.
After the Conference
Download the Post-Conference Kit
All attendees will be emailed a link to download the Post-Conference Kit which includes presenter PowerPoints, a downloadable roster, the Let’s Make Deal$ LIVE PowerPoint, a press release template and photos from the event. Let your clients and colleagues know you invested in attending the conference and share how the connections you made and knowledge you gained make you the most qualified land professional to assist them.
