Membership Overview Whether you are just entering the land profession or you are an experienced land specialist, the REALTORS® Land Institute is your essential professional membership organization. There is no other Institute that serves the extraordinary individuals who broker, sell, develop, and manage our most precious resource: the land.
Members of the organization specialize in land transactions related to: (1) farms, ranches, recreational, and other specialty land properties; (2) undeveloped tracts of land; (3) transitional and development land; (4) subdivision and lot wholesaling; (5) site selection and assemblage of land parcels. Membership categories include:
- ALC Candidates
ALC Candidates are considered Active Members of RLI and must hold a category of membership in the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) as either a REALTOR® or REALTOR®-ASSOCIATE or as an Institute Affiliate member of NAR. ALC Candidates may vote and hold certain offices in the RLI organization. Candidates retain their candidacy status as long as their membership in the RLI organization is maintained. Candidates qualify for all Candidate-level member benefits. Annual Membership Dues: $295. See the New Member Application.
- Accredited Members (ALC designees)
Accredited Members are Active Members of the Institute who have achieved the Accredited Land Consultant (ALC) Designation and must hold a category of membership in the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) as either a REALTOR® or REALTOR®-ASSOCIATE or as an Institute Affiliate member of NAR. Accredited members may vote and hold office in the RLI organization. Accredited Members retain the ALC designation as long as their membership in the RLI organization is maintained. Accredited Members qualify for all ALC-level member benefits. Annual Membership Dues: $295. The Accredited Land Consultant (ALC) designation requires a separate ALC application.
- Associate Members
Associate Members are service providers, sponsors, and related individuals who are engaged in endeavors related to the objectives of the Institute but who do not aspire to hold the ALC designation. These members may not vote or hold office and are not required to hold membership in the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR). Annual Membership Dues: $395. Associate Membership requires a separate Associate (formerly Affiliate) Member Application.
- Non-Practitioner Instructors
Non-practitioner instructors are those Land University instructors who are not real estate practitioners but who teach courses for the Land University curriculum, including but not limited to tax advisors, securities experts, and related professionals. Non-Practitioner Instructors are not required to hold a category of membership in the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) and may not vote or hold office. Annual Membership Dues: $145. - Government and Non-Profit Employee Members
Government and Non-Profit Employee Members are those members employed by government agencies and non-profit organizations engaged in endeavors related to the objectives of the Institute but who do not aspire to hold the ALC designation. These members may not vote or hold office and are not required to hold membership in the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR). Annual Membership Dues: $295. See the New Member Application.
- Life Members
Life Members have held Candidate, Accredited, or Associate Membership in the RLI organization for at least 20 years, maintain a category of membership in the National Association of REALTORS®, are at least 70 years old, and continue to be active in the real estate business. Annual Membership Dues: $50. To apply for Life Membership status, you must meet the requirements and submit a letter of intent to the RLI Board of Directors c/o rli@realtors.org.
- Emeritus Members
Emeritus Members have held Candidate, Accredited, or Associate Membership in the RLI organization for at least 20 years, are at least 70 years old, and are retired from business. Emeritus Members pay no yearly membership fees. To apply for Emeritus Membership status, you must meet the requirements and submit a letter of intent to the RLI Board of Directors c/o rli@realtors.org.
- Honorary Members
Honorary Members are those individuals who have provided exemplary service or a significant contribution to the RLI organization and have been so nominated and approved as an Honorary Member by the RLI Board of Directors. These members may not vote or hold office and are not required to hold membership in the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR).
- Student Members
Student Members are those individuals attending an institution of higher education on a full- or part-time basis who are interested in the land specialty and real estate profession. These members may not vote or hold office and are not required to hold membership in the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR). Annual Membership Dues: $75. To apply for Student Membership, submit a letter and proof of enrollment to rli@realtors.org.
