Get Started in Land

Is selling land a fit for me?

A passion for rural living and outdoor recreation - often with a family history in ranching or agriculture - inspires many to pursue a career in land real estate. But it isn't a guarantee for success. And not all land is farms, ranches, and recreational properties.

RLI members also specialize in timberland, vineyards, orchards, equestrian properties, undeveloped tracts of land, transitional and development land, subdivision and lot wholesaling, site selection and assemblage of land parcels, appraisals and land valuation, auctions, and farm and land management.

Dealing in land isn't like selling a home. It's a complex, commercial real estate transaction requiring competency and expertise in areas, such as:

  • Access and easements
  • Land conservation
  • Utility availability
  • Water and mineral rights
  • Soil quality and topography
  • Zoning and land use restrictions
  • Environmental impacts
  • Development potential, including commerical, industrial, and energy

Land-specific knowledge and experience is required to successfully and ethically guide buyers and sellers through these complicated transactions.
