Auctions & Timed Sales: Strategic Tools for Today's Land Broker

Auctions and Timed Sales

Wednesday, August 19 | 11:30 am Central
No cost to RLI members; $25 for Non Members

Land brokers are increasingly being asked to solve complex seller situations, accelerate timelines, and create competitive buyer demand. Auctions and timed sales are no longer viewed as last-resort methods of sale, but rather strategic marketing tools that can help brokers better serve clients while creating urgency, transparency, and market-driven pricing.

In this practical and experience-based webinar, Jimmie Dean Coffey, ALC, CAI, AARE, UCMA, will explore when auctions and timed sales make sense, when they do not, and how land professionals can effectively incorporate these methods into their existing brokerage business. Attendees will gain real-world insight into identifying opportunities, advising sellers, avoiding common mistakes, and using accelerated marketing strategies to achieve successful outcomes.

Speaker - Tara Smith
As Executive Vice President for the Torrey Advisory Group, Tara leads a team of talented advocacy experts. Tara brings value to clients through her experience in both the public and private sector, with time spent working for Monsanto, the American Farm Bureau Federation and the Senate Agriculture Committee during a critical revamping of the farm safety net. With more than 25 years of work in the policy world, her understanding of the ever-changing and evolving complexities of the political and stakeholder landscapes gives her a unique ability to advise clients in developing strategic partnerships and action plans for success.

As a proud farm kid from Illinois, the success of farmers and ranchers across the country is personal. Her roots in the industry allow Tara to have a unique understanding of the challenges faced by rural America, which fuels her determination to think creatively about how to develop policy solutions that contribute to a thriving rural economy.

She has a bachelor's degree from Davidson College in political science and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Michigan. She resides in Washington, D.C. with her husband, her fox red lab, Mango, and a kitten that thinks she’s a dog, Jumbie.
